What do Professors Think?
From interviewing professors at the University of California, Santa Barbara, I gained insight into the perspective of teachers. Professors shared some experiences, concerns, and information they would like to learn more about.
"I do not think I can reliably identify students who are on the spectrum. So I may have worked with students on the spectrum in the past, but I am not sure."
-- Philosophy professor
"No student has identified themselves to me as on being on the spectrum. I have recognized behaviors in young children on the spectrum. For students functioning at a high level and in college, I don’t think it’s something that I’d necessarily recognize."

--Writing professor
"I think a lot of accommodations can be made even if [students] don't disclose to you what exactly is they're dealing with"
--Chemistry Professor
"Training would be fundamental, it’s relatively easy to accomodate for those with more visual disabilities, but those on the spectrum are not that evident."

-- Biology Professor
